Jilted Jennifer Lopez rebounds in ‘Marry Me’ trailer



Jennifer Lopez is looking for her next husband (sound familiar?) in the first trailer for her Valentine’s Day flick “Marry Me.”

And Owen Wilson is the man to put that rock on her finger.

“Marry Me” follows singer Kat Valdez (Lopez) who is jilted by her fiancé Bastian (Maluma) when she discovers he has been a cheater all along. When the pair are set to exchange vows in front of a live audience, Kat decides to marry a random stranger, Charlie (Wilson), instead.

The almost four-minute trailer shows Lopez, 52, and Wilson, 53, trying to fit into each other’s vastly different worlds as they navigate being in a new relationship. Charlie is a sweet math teacher with a young daughter and no wife. Kat, however, is a global pop superstar and fashion icon. (No, really: sound familiar?)

“We both did this, so whether we like it or not, we’re in this together. We have to embrace the spontaneity of the moment. I don’t want to be the punchline,” Kat tells Charlie in the teaser.

However, Kat is having none of it. “Or I could stay married to him, ” she says. “I started something last night and if I don’t finish it, I’ll look crazy.”

In another scene, their romance grows and Charlie asks Kat to go to his school’s formal dance with him. “I could put a note in your locker!” he quips. She then notes that being with Charlie has made her feel “normal.”

The clip additionally features Lopez rocking glitzy outfits and starring in a Guess campaign. The movie also stars Sarah Silverman, Chloe Coleman, Jimmy Fallon and Utkarsh Ambudkar.

Lopez and Maluma already dropped their two-part music video for the film’s songs “Pa’ Ti” and “Lonely” in September 2020.

“This movie was very personal for me,” Lopez said. “I really understood this life. Kat Valdez is a recording artist. She’s been famous and in the business for a long time. She’s had some ups and downs in her personal life. Kat’s strong and confident. She’s a businesswoman. She’s a boss. But she’s also just a regular person who gets lonely, and who needs love, and wants to feel like she has a home.”

The rom-com will debut in theaters on Feb. 11, 2022.
