Thissomebull.com had the opportunity to sit with Abel and learn more about him and Camini.
TSB: Introduce yourself to our readers.
Abel: What’s up guys I just want to say thank you for letting us be a part of this and thank you to everyone who is tuning in. My name is Abel and I’m an artist, songwriter, producer, engineer from Salem, Wisconsin and ½ of Camini.
TSB: Tell me about growing up in the Mid-West?
Abel: Where I’m from is a small town on the border of Wisconsin and Illinois. It’s a slow-paced quiet town to grow up in. More corn fields than buildings but it was only 45 min away from Milwaukee and an hour from Chicago so if I wanted to go to the city, it was an easy drive. I lived a normal childhood, running around the neighborhood playing sports and games with my friends. My parents did a good job of making sure me and my siblings had something to do.
TSB: What inspired you to become an artist?
Abel: Honestly the whole “rockstar/rapper” lifestyle was appealing to me when I was growing up and the more, I listened and studied music the more I fell in love with the process of it. It really happened my freshman year of high school in 2009 when I really started listening to hip-hop and R&B. That next year I figured out who Mac Miller was and went to my first few concerts. Since then, I’ve always thought to myself “if they can do it, why can’t I”.
TSB: When did you decide to become an engineer?
Abel: In 2016 when I started studying audio production in Milwaukee. I wanted to make my own songs but got tired of using YouTube beats and recording myself in GarageBand. And I also wanted to be in control of my own sound, so I started recording myself and making beats.
TSB: What are you currently working on?
Abel: Camini just finished an amazing project that is gonna be out before the end of summer. I’m excited for everyone to hear that but I’m also working on 2 other solo projects. Aiming to drop 1 later this year and if everything goes as planned another project next summer.
TSB: Thank you for taking out the time to sit with us, do you have any links or contact information that you would like to share.
